Complementary Alternative Medicine

Today I had the coolest nursing class ever. One of the classes we are required to take is Community Health Nursing which consists of a lot of different things and today we talked about auras and energy fields and chakras. Pretty weird sounding, huh? I was skeptical at first but when we got to check each other's chakras and fix them, it was sooo neat!

I bet you're wondering what the heck a chakra is. It's basically a center of spiritual energy located in a specific area on your body. Everybody has seven of them. Take a look at the picture to see where they are located. Here are the representations: crown=relationship with the Divine, forehead=wisdom, neck=communication, heart=love, navel=I can't remember..., groin=sexuality and reproduction, and we didn't talk about the base but I'm sure it's somewhere on the internet.

Here's how you check each chakra. Get a piece of thread about 8 inches long and thread a paper clip on it. Tie the ends together. This is your pendulum. Make sure the pendulum is 3-4 inches long because this won't work if it is too short or too long. Once you've got your pendulum, hold it 1/2 inch to 1 inch above the center of your palm or someone else's palm. You have to make sure that you're "grounded" which means you need to have both your feet flat on the floor, take a deep breath, and make sure you are in the "present." After doing that, the paper clip should begin to rotate in a clockwise circle. If you have it in the wrong spot it won't move. Weird, huh? Well once you've seen that, then you can try the different locations indicated on the picture above.

Your chakras are in check if the paper clip moves in a clockwise motion. If the paper clip just moves back in forth or moves in a counterclockwise position, then you've got to fix your chakras. Also, if the paperclip doesn't move, then you have it in the wrong spot. All of these spots are right in the center of your body. If you move to the side, the paper clip will stop moving. So weird, I know!

Ok, so here's how you fix them...I think. Our teacher just put her hand in front of the out-of-check chakra and twirled her finger in a clockwise manner. Then she had the student breath orange aromatherapy oil deeply 3 times. When she checked the chakra after "fixing" it, it was totally normal! Seriously so freaking cool and weird.

We learned a few other crazy things but I'm not going to write about all of them. If you're interested, I'll just tell you in person. Give this a try. It's super easy and so weird.

Okay...this was WAY intense....but still very cool. We'll have to converse more about it in person.

Do you really believe in all this stuff?? If so, tell me where the weight loss part is. HAHAHAHA~~

Hahaha, Kari, I just saw that. Yeah I wish... I don't believe that it makes you healthier and some of the stuff is just bogus, but the whole chakra thing really did work and that's what threw me off guard. But I'm sure my teacher would say something like this about weight loss, "Close your eyes and picture yourself on a beautiful beach, now just watch yourself becoming thinner and thinner..." and it'd be in a sort of mystical voice. But sorry, it wouldn't help :(
