Research this Summer

Well some of you know a little of my schedule this summer. I was able to get a job at a local PT clinic as an aid and gain some hours for my future PA school application plus a little bit of money. They just don't pay as much money as my wife and I need but what job really does. I work about 25 hours a week there. On Tuesday and Thursday I have been able to be part of Dr. James Porter's research team for 8 hours a week. It has been really fun and interesting. Let me give you the down low on what we are doing and his goal in his research. The first day of research we killed 10 rats and removed their hearts, kidneys, adrenal glands, pituitary glands for more research later. He has found that rats whose mom's were given high salt diets had much higher increases in blood pressure under stressful situations than rats whose mom's were given normal salt diets. Right now we are discovering and proving why this is occurring. On Thursday two rats died. We were doing surgery on them to implant a blood pressure monitor into their belly and for some reason there were some complications and they died. Anyway it is very interesting but would not want to do it my whole life and that is why I will be a PA and not a researcher.

I'm just waiting for a dead dissected rat to be posted on here. GROSS!
